Summer Law Clerk

Hirshon Lerner Hutchinson is a business and real estate-focused litigation firm in downtown Portland. We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our growing downtown office as a summer law clerk.

This role offers exposure to a wide array of tasks covering all stages of civil litigation—from initial case analysis to preparing for trial. Your responsibilities as a summer law clerk will include researching complex legal issues, assisting with discovery review and analysis, drafting memoranda in support of ongoing litigation matters, strategizing and drafting motions and pleadings under attorney supervision, and other related projects.

We also encourage discussion on case development, strategy, and legal practice.

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in law school.
  • Possess an excellent academic record. Experience on law review journals or moot court teams is a plus.
  • Possess genuine interest in business and real estate litigation.
  • Be proficient in business office technology.
  • Be available to work an average of 40 hours per week from June through August 2026.
  • Demonstrate written and oral communication, collaboration, time management, and legal analysis.
  • Exhibit strong attention to detail and accountability for completing assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrate your ability to work well with others.

Associate Attorney

As an Associate Attorney at HLH, you’ll handle a diverse caseload and work closely with senior attorneys on complex matters. Whether you’re drafting motions, conducting legal research, or appearing in court, you’ll play a key role in delivering the high-quality legal services we’re known for.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in case strategy development and execution
  • Conduct legal research and draft briefs, motions, and contracts
  • Represent clients in court and during negotiations
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on complex litigation and transactional matters
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to ensure their needs are met

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to the Oregon State Bar (or eligible for reciprocity)
  • 1-3 years of experience in a law firm or legal setting (new graduates with relevant clerkships or internships will be considered)
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
